There are a lot of good web sites on 'Web Design' and this is not really intended to be another in the same mold. Instead, the aim of these pages is to take a look at professionalism in said design. That is, how to design web pages and sites in an economical way so as to make both the production and maintenance profitable, whilst at the same time rendering the output pleasing to look at and functionally easy to use.

This is not going to be a series of tutorials on how to do whatever. Instead, I'd like to bring to you a series of tools and ideas to enable you to create a site quickly, whilst avoiding the hell that is Dreamweaver (or worse, products such as Frontpage). Some time ago I developed a Pagemaker Tool, now hosted on the Position is Everything web site.

Since the introduction of yet another heap of cack by Microsoft known as Internet Explorer 7, I have been working on a complete code re-write of that Pagemaker Tool. The good news is that the templates are now finished and tested. So, what does the Pagemaker do? It produces an almost infinite variety of page designs based around 4 root templates, all of which have some basic features. Most obvious is the fixed width (usualy centered in the page) full height nature of the design. To simplify the code, you can switch off the full height feature. What is new, is that I am working on implementing the Piefecta Jello Mold variable width design. Watch this space.

The most recent tool I have made is the shady border maker (see link in the news section. This makes thate nice drop shadow effect for your page in just 8 tiny image files. The tool actually makes the images based on your color choices, so you can customize it just for you. The next tool, after the new Pagemaker Tool is released, is a menu maker.
